More On Our Massage Therapy

This week’s blog post will focus on our massage therapy services.

We have a fantastic team of seven highly talented and phenomenally trained massage therapists. Our therapists are in the clinic periodically throughout the week. Be sure to check in with the front desk about when your preferred therapist is in. Every single one of them is great (we know everyone says this about their massage therapists but in our case, it couldn’t be more true) and depending on your particular preferences you may want to book your massages in advance as our therapists book up very quickly and sometimes have months fully booked ahead of time. It is no wonder they have waitlists, once you have experienced your first session with any of them you will understand what all the fuss is about, relaxation and healing like that is hard to pass up.

We offer many different modalities; from reflexology, hot-stone therapy, deep tissue massage, graston techniques, cupping, Swedish massage, prenatal massage, trigger point and myofascial release massage just to name a few.

Now don’t be overwhelmed by the types of massage as we will be looking into each of them and their benefits to help you better understand your options here at Chicago Chiropractic Center.

Here is a bite size overview for each;

Reflexology – is the application of pressure to areas on the feet (or the hands). Reflexology is generally relaxing and may help alleviate stress. Several studies indicate that reflexology may reduce pain and psychological symptoms, such as stress and anxiety, and enhance relaxation and sleep.

Hot-stone therapy – A hot stone massage is a type of massage therapy. It’s used to help you relax and ease tense muscles and damaged soft tissues throughout your body. During a hot stone massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of your body. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. Hot stone massage benefits include reducing stress and anxiety and may even boost immunity.

Deep tissue massage – Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. Benefits include rehabilitating sports injuries, reducing pain, and stress relief.

Graston Techniques – The Graston Technique is a form of manual therapy known as soft-tissue instrument-assisted mobilization. The general goals of the therapy are to reduce the patient’s pain and increase function through a combination of: Breaking down the scar tissue and fascia restrictions that are usually associated with some form of trauma to the soft tissue (e.g., a strained muscle or a pulled ligament, tendon, or fascia). Reducing restrictions by stretching connective tissue in an attempt to rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated (e.g., muscle, fascia, tendons, ligaments).

Swedish massage – is designed to relax the entire body by rubbing the muscles in long, gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. But the benefits go beyond relaxation. It can help increase the level of oxygen in the blood and improve circulation and flexibility.

Prenatal Massage – Prenatal or Pregnancy massage is a type of massage therapy specifically designed to be used during pregnancy. Pregnancy massage may help relieve some of the aches and pains of pregnancy.

Trigger point & Myofascial release massage – Pain usually originates from specific points within your myofascial tissues called “trigger points.” Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points.

Most of our massage therapists are able and do tailor their session to incorporate more than one modality to ensure you receive treatment perfect to your needs.

As many of our older patients know, here at Chicago Chiropractic Center we treat our patients holistically. We ensure your treatment plan starts with targeting the root of the issue and we then collectively as a team tackle the issues from every angle. Our bodies are complex and cannot be viewed from one side only. That’s why our Doctors, Physical therapist, Physical therapy assistants and Massage therapists will handle your physical well-being as a team. That way you can focus on other things. We know injuries and ailments can get us down in more ways than just physically and mentally, we will do what we do best so you can get back to doing what you love.

Our team is trained to care for you, we are here to help in every way we can. Be sure to pay us a visit, call 3127261353 or book online. When was the last time you got your well deserved massage?

Stay tuned for next week’s blog post where we branch into more of our services, like our IV therapy.
